About this blog
My dear boys, this blog is dedicated to you. I wish that my dad had written a cookbook before he died because he was the best cook I’ve ever known. I hope that one day, you will have the same passion for food your grandad and I had and that you’ll find this blog helpful.
Growing up, food brought me joy in many sad moments. Me, my brother and sister (all 1 year apart in age), had to sit at the table until we finished our dinner, which I don’t actually remember as a punishment, but fun. We would talk, we would tease each other about finishing last, and we would reward ourselves for finishing 1st, 2nd and last by giving ourselves a title of King/Queen, Prince/Princess and well the last probably a loser! I had my favourite food, which as strange as it sounds, was boiled potatoes, with fried onion and ‘smoked speck’ (smoked pork belly), served with a cup of kefir and I remember being happy whenever I was eating it.
Later on, I got to love more and more food and today, I love trying new things but also love coming back to my beloved Czech favourites (Pork, cabbage& dumplings, Paprika chicken, Goulash, Fried potato pancakes and all the sweet bakes like Kolache and Bundt cakes).
To everyone who is joining me on this blog, thank you for all your encouragement and I hope you enjoy this writing journey with me. I know that it will take me a while to add all those beautiful dishes that we enjoy at home, but I know that it will be worth it at the end.
Lots of love
